Dr Asok Venkataraman is one of the lead consultants for the Cardiology Team who provide a comprehensive cardiac service and care to the local population.
Dr Venkataraman joined GEH in Feb 1997 as consultant cardiologist. He graduated from India in 1980 and also did his MD in cardiac effects of yellow oleander poisoning (1985). He came to UK in 1986 and had his training in interventional cardiology from Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry. He has been working as a consultant cardiologist from 1994. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of UK.
His special interest are
1. Coronary interventions
2. Mitral valvuloplasty,
3. Heart failure management
4. Cardiac imaging especially CT coronary angiography and Cardiac MRI.
5. Pacemaker implantation and follow up.
He is also the Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the Warwick Medical school and is keen on undergraduate and post graduate medical education. He is also the Principal Investigator for a number of Clinical trials run within the department.
