Mr Matthew Venus FRCS(plast) is a consultant plastic surgeon based at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, where he is clinical lead for the Department of Plastic Surgery.
He has an out-patient clinic at the George Eliot Hospital every Monday morning and a local anaesthetic day case list at the George Eliot Hospital on alternate Monday afternoons.
Mr Venus qualified as a doctor from the London Hospital Medical School in 1997 and then as a surgeon in 2001. His specialist training in plastic surgery was centred in the Midlands, but has encompassed units across the country including Nottingham, Stevenage, Bedford, Birmingham, Oxford, Derby and Durham. This training included dedicated surgical fellowships in hand surgery, in Oxford and in Derby, and a fellowship in cosmetic plastic surgery.
Mr Venus has sub-specialist interests in hand surgery, particularly minimally invasive techniques, in body contouring for patients who have lost a massive amount of weight, and in skin cancer.
Mr Venus has published articles on a wide range of topics in the surgical literature, including several papers in aesthetic, reconstructive and hand surgery.
