The Research and Development team George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust are celebrating the new year by reaching a major recruitment milestone in their HyperECHO research trial.
The HyperEcho study is overseen by the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility, Radcliffe Department of Medicine, at the University of Oxford, the multi-centre longitudinal observational study, investigates whether baseline transthoracic echocardiography along with routine data collected in the hypertension clinic can guide clinicians to better manage, and improve risk stratification for cardiovascular disease, in young adults with hypertension.
The George Eliot team has successfully hit the target of recruiting 20 patients from the site, which is part of a wider network of centres undertaking the work.
This new achievement follows the success of recruitment to two trials under WHiTE PLATFORM at the Trust in late 2024, further emphasizing the Trust’s commitment to clinical research.
Speaking on the achievement, Dr Suresh Krishnamoorthy, Clinical Director for the Medicine Directorate, said: “We are delighted to hit this target as it shows our holistic approach to improving patient care, now and in the future, through our ongoing commitment to research and development.”
“This success of the recruitment is down to the dedication and hard work of every member of the research team, from clinical trial coordinators, research nurses, data managers, and clinical speciality teams.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their contributions, which are making a real difference in the lives of our patients.
“We are proud of the entire research team who not only ensure the success of these trials but also demonstrate the strength of our collaboration and the impact it has on patient outcomes.”
The team are now looking to build on these successes into the upcoming year and will continue recruiting patients for all trials.
The team is confident that with continued dedication, they can further expand their research impact and contribute to even more meaningful advancements in healthcare.
