Nicola Peach Nicola Peach, a newly qualified Nursing Associate at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, is celebrating after her hard work has been honoured with an Endeavour Award from Coventry University.

The Endeavour Award is given to students who exhibit exceptional dedication and go above and beyond in their studies.

Nicola decided to pursue the Nursing Associate programme at Coventry University in January 2023 after previously working in nursing support roles at George Eliot Hospital.

Over the course of the programme, Nicola demonstrated immense determination, culminating in her completion of the program with flying colours.

"I was truly shocked but proud to receive this award," Nicola shared. "I have loved every minute of my studies and would like to thank the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) team and the education team at George Eliot Hospital for all of their support throughout my journey. I have been supported by the Trust every step of the way to achieve my goals."

Nicola's journey to success began at George Eliot Hospital, working as a Ward Clerk across various departments. It was during her time in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) that Nicola found her calling in patient care.

Driven by a desire to do more, she transitioned to a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) role, overcoming challenges with the help of the hospital's education team. Nicola successfully completed the necessary courses, including her Care Certificate, to qualify for the position.

Katie Wood, Senior Sister on AMU, expressed immense pride in Nicola's accomplishments: "We are so proud of Nicola. She is a wonderful colleague who always goes the extra mile for both her colleagues and patients. We are excited to see where her career takes her next!"

Karen Heywood, Course Director for Nursing Associates Apprentices at Coventry University, paid tribute to Nicola’s hard work: “Nicola is receiving this recognition due to her unwavering commitment to her course, her career and her support to others.

“Despite having some challenging times Nicola has continued to dedicate herself to her apprenticeship for two years. Her attendance at university has been exemplary and her professional approach to her learning is a personal triumph but she has also represented George Eliot Hospital and the values they expect from their employees.”

“Nicola was a pleasure to teach, and her learning and personal journey is something I am proud to have been part of. As a course team we wish her every success in her future career.”
