The George Eliot Finance Department is celebrating after being awarded One NHS Finance Towards Excellence Accreditation, Level 2 by the National NHS Finance Leadership Council.
The Level 2 award recognises a sustained high level of performance, with an organisation demonstrating a culture that is innovative and consistently supportive of the development of the finance capabilities.
This is important for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust as it is proven that having an effective and responsive financial service enables better focus and use of resources for patient care.
Speaking of the success Haq Khan, Chief Finance Officer said: “I am really proud of the finance department for this brilliant achievement as a result of a great team effort.
“The accreditation is in recognition of the efforts we have put into nurturing a culture where our team members feel valued, have a voice and are empowered to make improvements.
“I would like to thank everyone in the department for getting behind this and the senior team for their leadership in creating an environment for success.”
The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust finance department is the first in the Foundation Group to achieve Level 2 accreditation, which comes exactly 12 months after achieving Level 1 accreditation.
There are three accreditation levels, each designed to reflect the continuous development of finance functions and recognising the highest standards of financial competence and commitment to skills development.
The Finance Department is now aiming for the top level 3 accreditation, which is awarded to those considered to be leading edge NHS finance functions.
This will be done through “The Great People Programme”, an improvement programme established by the department to engage and empower team members to drive through continuous improvements.
