Among the generous donation were 12 high-spec patient tables for beds in the recovery ward, 10 study chairs for staff and a freezer and fridge.

The modern endoscopy unit at George Eliot Hospital hosts the Midlands Endoscopy Training Unit which supports learning across the midlands.

Welcoming the donation Dr Edmond Sung, Consultant in Gastroenterology and General Medicine and clinical lead said: “We are hugely grateful for the kind donations which will really make a difference to the team here and to the patients we care for.

"We are proud to be able to train fellow professionals and the study chairs will help make that process a little easier. The patient tables add to the comfort and convenience of patients during their time with us.”

Mike Parsons, Chairman of The League of Friends said: “We are always delighted to be able to support the work of the fantastic teams here at the hospital and to improve the experience of the patients. It’s what we’re here for.

"Thank you to the volunteers who support the League of Friends who make all this possible.”
