After successfully being appointed as a Clinical Sister at George Eliot Hospital, Sakshi Sachdeva has become the first of the internationally recruited Nurses to achieve a senior nursing leadership role at ward level in the Trust.
Sakshi has taken up the role in the hospital’s Arbury Lodge team which specialises in ‘complex discharges’ where people need special care arrangements or adaptations in their home before they are able to leave hospital.
Sakshi joined the Trust as part of a successful international nurse recruitment programme which has seen internationally educated nurses join the Trust over the last two years.
Sakshi said “Taking on the role is a significant responsibility, but I felt confident in my readiness for this challenge and my ability to handle the demands of the position.
“Having worked at Arbury Lodge for almost two years, I’ve experienced firsthand the incredible support and camaraderie among our team.
“Our ward manager and my colleagues create a truly supportive environment where we help each other thrive, making our work both fulfilling and enjoyable."
Since the Trust started overseas recruitment journey it has recruited 110 internationally educated nurses in ten separate cohorts, all of which are now working as valued members of our nursing teams across the Trust.
Natalie Green, Chief Nursing Officer, at George Eliot Hospital said: “I was thrilled when I heard Sakshi’s news about her promotion. This promotion is not only an exciting opportunity for Sakshi but also a testament to the value that internationally educated nurses bring to the team at George Eliot Hospital.
“She has worked incredibly hard and settled well into the hospital and Arbury Lodge, bringing a wealth of knowledge and skills.
“Sakshi has demonstrated that with the support of our recruitment team and a wider help network, there are lots of opportunities to progress a nursing career at the George Eliot and make a difference to our patients.”
