The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust finance team are celebrating after being awarded One NHS Finance Towards Excellence Accreditation, at Level 1 by the NHS Finance Leadership Council.
The award recognises good practice in culture, staff development and processes in NHS finance. This is important for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust as it is proven that having an effective and responsive financial service enables better focus on patient care.
Achieving Level 1, Good Practice, is recognition of the sustained excellent performance by the team. Where they have been able to demonstrate a culture that is innovative and consistently supportive of the development of the finance capability throughout the organisation.
In total, there are three accreditation levels, each designed to reflect the continuous development of finance functions and recognising the highest standards of financial competence and commitment to skills development.
Level 2 and Level 3 Accredited Applications are peer reviewed, and this process provides an additional level of assurance over and above the self-assessment process as in Level 1.
Speaking of the success Haq Khan, Chief Finance Officer, said: “I am very proud of the whole team on their achievement, it is testament of their hard work and dedication to providing a great service to all the departments across the hospital through better processes and a focus on financial skills development. This helps them to deliver their commitment to support excellent patient care”.
“I’d like to extend a big thank you to all the finance and operational departments for their support in providing the evidence to the project team during the accreditation process. Your help is very much appreciated and is essential for the success of the accreditation process. A very big thank you to Yasmina Gainer for her leadership and to Chloe Gabbitas-Powls for doing much of the heavy lifting for the accreditation application”.
