2022-07-PiVS-Amended-logo.pngOur organisation and our staff are proud to support the Armed Forces community.

We are a veteran-aware and reservist-friendly organisation and welcome applications from Veterans, Reservists, Cadet Instructors, and family members of serving personnel.

Accredited as a Veteran Aware organisation by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA), this recognises the quality of the service that the Trust provides to the armed forces community, ensuring that those who serve, or who have served, in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

In March 2025 we launched a new social media campaign highlighting how skills gained in the armed forces can be utilised in a healthcare setting to mark NHS Employers, Military March campaign.

Armed Forces Recruitment Image (1).pngThe campaign, called ‘Where your military experience makes the difference’, encourages armed forces veterans, reservists and cadet leaders to consider bringing their military skills into a career in healthcare.

It also highlights the benefits employees can expect from working at the Trust, including 10 days extra leave for cadet leaders and reservists to take part in duties, and guaranteed interviews for veterans who meet the essential job requirements.

Our Armed Forces Community Staff Network are committed to raising awareness about the Armed Forces Community and are involved in many events and training opportunities throughout the year. If you’re a member of the Armed Forces Community and interested in a career with us, you can find out what life is like here by emailing armedforcesnetwork@geh.nhs.uk

Originally, an NHS England-funded initiative, OpCOMMUNITY is an easily accessible point of contact with a dedicated email and phone number to support the Armed Forces community as a whole. This includes Serving (Regulars and Reservists) and Ex-Service Personnel, immediate family members and carers of those from within His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
